Digital Twin
A digital twin is a virtual model that represents an object or system throughout its lifecycle. It is updated using real-time data, simulation, autonomy, machine learning, and reasoning to support decision making. The digital twin offers an accurate representation of the physical object, such as a pump. By outfitting the object with sensors, we can capture data on various aspects of performance, including temperature, pressure, flow rate, vibration, etc. This data is then transmitted to a data processing system and applied to the digital copy. Once informed with this data, the virtual model can be used to run simulations, identify performance issues, and propose potential improvements. The ultimate goal is to generate valuable insights that can be applied back to the original physical object.
