Research Activities
Dr. Zhang is the Director of Advanced Thermal Hydraulics Laboratory at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He previously held a position as Research Fellow in 2021 and Research Investigator in 2022-2023 in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences at The University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences from The University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 2020, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from North China Electric Power University.
Dr. Zhang has been involved in several projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and has successfully led two university- or institute-level projects. He has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in recent years. In addition, Dr. Zhang has chaired a few technical sessions at international conferences, i.e., International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics and Advances in Thermal Hydraulics, and has served as a reviewer for esteemed journals like International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Nuclear Engineering and Design, Annals of Nuclear Energy, Progress in Nuclear Energy, Fusion Energy and Design, Energies, etc. He was also the recipient of Best Paper - North America Award at International Conference on Nuclear Engineering.
