Heat Exchanger
Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHEs) are ultra-compact heat exchangers that deliver exceptional thermal performance at high temperatures and pressures. This benefit makes them well suited for a number of demanding applications, such as molten salt reactors, high-temperature gas reactors, liquid metal fast reactors, and concentrated solar power plants.
The heat transfer and flow characteristics of a pilot-scale, zigzag-channel PCHE are initially investigated in a low-temperature test facility utilizing water as a surrogate for molten salts and then a high-temperature fluoride salt test facility FLUSTFA. The PCHE is constructed of Alloy 800H and the FLiNaK salt is adopted as the working fluid.
